AKE Italia: The new subsidiary of AKE

AKE Knebel GmbH & Co. KG (AKE) – one of the world’s leading companies in the production of circular saw blades and milling tools – opens with AKE Italia s.r.l. a new subsidiary in Italy. It was recently founded near Forlimpopoli (Italy) and is succeeding the long-term partner and dealer HOWEMA Italia, who successfully represented AKE in Italy for almost 40 years.

The German precision tool manufacturer AKE, founded in 1960 by Albert Knebel in Balingen, is a brand that has the primary goal to ensure the best quality of the product. It is recognized worldwide as a manufacturer of excellent circular saw blades and for several years has expanded its product range for also manufacturing all kinds of cutting tools for processing materials in the wood, plastic, aluminum and metal industry.

“The specialization and innovation of our products, the experience and the continuous dialogue with our customers allow them to aim and satisfy new goals in their business” explains Marco Campana, CEO of AKE Italia. The new Italian subsidiary inherits the experience, professionalism, and expertise of HOWEMA Italia, a long-standing dealer on the market, not only continuing its activity, but strengthening the link to and using synergies with the German parent company. Marco Campana also adds: “We put our experience and knowledge at the service of our customers, providing not only blades and tools but a partnership. The satisfaction of our customers is the key to their and our success.”

AKE Knebel GmbH & Co. KG was founded in Balingen (Germany) in 1960 in a small workshop with only 5 employees where it produced blades for woodworking. AKE moved into a new factory in 1971 with successive successes and the growing demand for increasingly technological and innovative products.

The existing grinding machines on the market to produce blades were not technologically able to meet the quality standards required by AKE that in 1975 is forced to build his own “AKEmat” machines. These machines were first built for use in-house by AKE, then later for customers throughout the world. Further milestones for the ambitious company were the introduction of laser cutting technology, the production of milling cutters, saw blades and diamond tipped tools.

In addition, since the 1970s, AKE has expanded its distribution network with the creation of subsidiaries in Germany and abroad and a worldwide network of partners. AKE owns several patents and has implemented pioneering innovations. Today after more than 60 years it has 500 employees worldwide.
